Wine Tasting in Alexander Valley

At Beau Wine Tours, our experienced and professional team have the experience to create a custom wine tour that will deepen your love for Northern California’s wine country. And when it comes to Sonoma, we have been into every winery on every hill and in every valley from the San Pablo Bay and up to Mendocino. The Alexander Valley is at the northern end of the Sonoma Valley and is further inland and therefore warmer than other parts of Sonoma closer to bodies of water. Well known for warmer weather grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel, the Alexander Valley is an in demand location for wine tastings that must include some of California’s most iconic grapes.

In 1840, Cyrus Alexander arrived in what we now call the Alexander Valley. He was granted nearly 50,000 acres by the Mexican government, and was the first person to grow grapes here. The Alexander Valley Winegrowers can help you out with more information on this undiscovered gem for wine tasting and tours.

His stunning winery in northern Sonoma harkens to some of his favorite memories of ‘wonderland’s’ such as Coney Island, Luna Park, Steeplechase Park and Palisades Park. Besides offering his broad portfolio of wines produced in nearly every style, you can experience swimming at the luxurious pool, music, dancing, games, farmer’s markets and entertainment of all kinds.

Although it is dedicated to pleasure, Francis and his wife Eleanor have always strongly supported sustainability. This desire comes from their commitment to preserve the land for future generations of wine lovers. From inside the tasting room to out in the vineyards, this power couple ensures environmental responsibility at every level. They have been making wine in a way that minimizes impact for 40 years, all the while making memories that last a lifetime at their stunning Sonoma winery.

The Seghesio family has been operating in and around the Alexander Valley since 1895. An Italian immigrant named Edoardo Seghesio planted his first Zinfandel vineyard on what is still the Home Ranch Vineyard. He and his wife were so dedicated, they even made it as one of the few wineries to survive Prohibition! Afterward, they became one of the key suppliers to supply grapes and wine to larger bulk California producers. But now in it’s fifth generation of family operations, the modern era for Seghesio family has brought with it a commitment to quality driven Zinfandels. Many members of the family now work at this historic winery, and have made Seghesio Family Vineyards one of the top producers in the Alexander Valley.
