Experience the seasons of Northern California as they come to life at the Michelin-starred Solbar, where Executive Chef Brandon Sharp turns farm-fresh, seasonal ingredients into unique, flavorful and surprising dishes that reflect the best Napa Valley has to offer. Armed with Napa Valley’s finest local ingredients, Solbar delivers inventive new twists on time-honored California soul food recipes. The result is tantalizing cuisine that showcases the best organic, sustainably-farmed elements for both indulgent and healthful selections.

Solbar Calistoga 2Award-winning chef Brandon Sharp’s passion for utilizing the freshest, ripest and most exciting seasonal ingredients can be found woven into the heart of the Napa Valley resort’s culinary program. His inspired cuisine is a culmination of years spent working at some of the nation’s most influential restaurants. Most recently, he served as sous chef at the five-star Gary Danko in San Francisco. Prior to that, he was Chef de Cuisine at Restaurant August, a New Orleans culinary institution, and Chef de Partie, alongside Thomas Keller at the world-renowned French Laundry in Napa Valley.

Solbar is nestled within the high-end resort of Solage Calistoga. Relaxation is the name of the game in this small hamlet at the North end of the Napa Valley and that goes for this resort setting as well. From the bocce court and adjacent swimming pool to the chic dining room and sparkling fountain, the style of this restaurant will put you in a relaxed mood. Choose from indoor seating in the newly renovated dining room and bar or dine al fresco, in the shaded courtyard overlooking the palm-studded pool. An epic view of the Palisades Mountains provides the perfect backdrop to dig in. Whether you’re coming for breakfast, lunch or dinner Solbar has a menu for you.

Solbar Calistoga 1Sunday brunch is one of our favorites, so let us set the scene for you. Begin with the Napa 75 a riff on the French 75 with rhubarb and rhubarb bitters. A delicious, light and a far more interesting brunch option than the usual mimosa. Suggest a Negroni with gin, Campari and orange for your partner, a delightfully bitter drink to get your taste buds going before a meal. Start with the Winter Fruit Plate and savor local citrus, sierra beauty apples, red flame grapes, hosui pears and banana! Then for your main course share the Mount Washington Eggs, a biscuit, poached eggs, smoked ham and black kale with spicy hollandaise. Can you taste it already?

Or maybe a leisurely late lunch after a couple of wine tastings is calling you. Opt for a table outside and dig into some delicious treats. If you want to continue your wine tasting, Solbar features some amazing local selections and standouts from the Napa Valley. If it’s a girl’s weekend, split dishes between all of you. The crispy Petrale Sole Tacos with sweet and sour cabbage, cilantro and spicy aioli is a great starter with a side of sol fries dusted with picante spice. Then go for the big guns. Splurge for the Lucky Pig, a slow roasted shoulder of pork, black sesame crepes, pickled pineapple and lettuce cups. It says it is best for two but could easily serve more!

Solbar Calistoga 3The Lucky Pig is so famous it lives on both the lunch and dinner menus. But if you’re looking for a big night out, the chef’s tasting menu is unforgettable. The five-course tasting menu expertly paired with wine changes often. But it is a delicious way to taste what the chef thinks is the best of the best from the valley as well as wines that fully complement the flavor of your food. You can even take it to the next level and book The Chef’s Atrium which offers exclusive private dining experiences for parties of up to 10 people, including a five-course tasting menu and sommelier-paired wines. Talk one on one with the chefs and Chef Sharp as they prepare your meal. A truly 5-star experience at a Michelin starred Napa Valley Restaurant.
