Guests arrive with an official welcome from Bunny Foo-Foo (a large chrome rabbit sculpture frolicking in the vineyards) and instantly experience a one of a kind destination.

The Hess Collection was founded by Swiss entrepreneur Donald Hess, who first purchased vineyards on Mount Veeder in 1978. Located in the historic stone winery originally constructed in 1903 by Colonel Theodore Gier, the winery first opened to the public in 1989. The winery has earned international recognition for its wine, culinary and visitor programs while providing free public access to Donald Hess’ extensive private contemporary Art Museum. The winery is best known for its flagship Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay wines and single vineyard designates from their estate vineyards in Napa Valley.
Secluded 20 minutes away from the main Napa Valley highway, Hess Collection is on a little corner up in a hill. The grounds are beautiful, with a nice courtyard enclosed in brick walls and a koi pond. There are a few tables underneath hanging vines where you can picnic and observe the abstract sculptures. Choose four wines to enjoy from their wine tasting menu, many of which are winery exclusive. More experiences await depending on your preferences, from seated and guided tastings to food pairings as well. The Hess Collection Contemporary Art Museum, featuring works from the private collection of proprietor Donald Hess, is open daily 10:00am to 5:30pm, without charge.
