Handwritten Wines was founded by owners Dan and Becky Blue, Roy and Cheri Eisiminger and Vance and Jana Thompson, and with the artistic vision of Winemaker Rob Lloyd. Handwritten Wines is a new and different vehicle through which the founders and can express their love for wine and people. Their first foray into becoming vintners was with Handwritten’s successful sister winery, Jessup Cellars.
Like a writer searching for the perfect word or phrase to express an emotion, Handwritten Wines seeks out evocative fruit that embodies the unique terroir of Napa Valley’s finest hillside, District Vineyards. We strive to inspire a thought, a moment, a story, in each and every sip of the wines we create. Our belief in enriching lives through artistic expression extends to what we think of as our human terroir; our commitment to supporting the literary arts and to giving back to the extraordinary community by which we are surrounded.
We offer sit down, appointment only tastings in our cottage located in the heart of St. Helena. We renovated this 1947 bungalow with the same attention to detail that we use in creating our wines. Our wrap-around porch can be reserved for a pre-tasting picnic of your choosing. Our staff will lead you through a leisurely and memorable tasting of our Handwritten Wines, each poured side by side with plenty of time to savor. The cottage seems to inspire conversations about wine, travel, handwritten letters, and favorite words. Our wish is that you will feel right at home.
Blog Article Suggestions (upcoming event, unique program, recent award, etc): Handwritten is all about enriching lives through wine and the literary arts. Our main outlet for this community evolvement and support of literacy is our StoryTellers Series, which features intimate events featuring emerging and world-renowned authors, poets and screenwriters.
On August 1st, 2014 our StoryTellers Series hosts journalist Maximillian Potter who uncovered a recent plot to destroy the vines of La Roman-Conti, Burgundy’s finest and most expensive wine. Told in an unforgettable narrative that takes us deep into the captivating world of small-town French politics. This ticketed special event is $45 and includes ultra-premium wine tasting, delicious bites, copy of the book, meet-and-greet, and author signing. Ticket info: handwrittenwines.com.
