Dec. 22, 2014 – 7 p.m.

Union HotelThe Union Hotel’s holiday event has become so renowned that visitors come from San Francisco and beyond to enjoy the caroling and thousands of cookies baked by Union Hotel crew. One visitor, with a white beard and red jacket, comes to the hotel all the way from the North Pole. The tradition began more than 30 years ago when the manager of the Union’s saloon, offered hot apple cider and sweet treats to carolers gathered in the hotel’s bar. There are gingerbread men, Christmas trees, snowmen, twinkling stars and even hotel-shaped cookies with “Union Hotel” pressed into them. The parlor doors are flung open and over 3,000 cookies and cider are shared around! Stay for the delicious Italian dinner and tuck into the Inn at Occidental for a quaint weekend away.
