Rutherford Ranch
1680 Silverado Tr South
St Helena, CA 94574
(707) 968-3200
Rutherford Ranch has been a part of the Napa Valley wine scene since the mid-1970’s, and is still family-owned and managed today. And though both the winery and the vineyards have undergone some changes over time, the spirit of the Rutherford appellation is still at the heart of what the winery stands for. The area has long been considered the finest region in which to grow Cabernet, and though Rutherford Ranch may be known for their rich, highly pair-able reds, the winery’s portfolio extends well beyond Cabs to include Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay. The fruit is sourced from the winery’s sustainably farmed estate vineyards, as well as carefully chosen sources throughout Napa Valley. And really, that’s what’s most important at Rutherford Ranch—cultivating, sustaining, and sharing the best of what Napa Valley has to offer to wine lovers from all over the world!

For our Napa Valley group wine tours, we love to recommend Rutherford Ranch for its many tasting “enhancements,” which include chocolate pairings, charcuterie and cheese plates, and even box lunches from the famous Bouchon bakery! Guests can also reserve vineyard tours and tastings for up to ten, which includes an educational walk through the estate and ends in a seated tasting. We especially recommend Rutherford Ranch for larger groups, where accommodations are made for parties of fifteen or more. These groups can opt for Reserve or Estate tastings, or even upgrade to a bottle service with a wine educator, or arrange for the winery’s chef to make small bite pairings for the group; boxed lunches are also available. No matter the size of your group, every guest is invited to visit the property’s hundred-year-old olive grove, where your Napa Valley group wine tour can take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the natural beauty of California wine country. If you’re not convinced, check out this virtual tour of the property!
Silver Oak Cellars
915 Oakville Cross Rd
Oakville, CA 94562
(707) 942-7022
Located in historic Oakville—often called the heart of Napa Valley—Silver Oak is a famous name among American Cabernet Sauvignon producers! And while many wine lovers already know a little about label, most don’t know the importance the winery places on the use of American oak barrels instead of French oak, once considered the industry standard. And though Silver Oak’s winery was lost in a 2006 fire, the new facility is a beacon for innovation and sustainability. Just three years ago, Silver Oak acquired its own cooperage, becoming the first American winery to wholly own their barrel source; every barrel is made from American trees. Of course, Napa Valley fruit is still the centerpiece, and Silver Oak is definitely a great stop for Cabernet Sauvignon aficionados. The current vintage is the 2013, which the winemaker notes as having a nose of “raspberry, cassis and loose pipe tobacco,” with a silky texture and spicy palate.
For our Napa Valley group wine tours, the tasting options at Silver Oak offer plenty to savor. While a walk-in tasting will give guests a sample of Silver Oak’s rich reds, a tour provides not only a glimpse at Silver Oak’s brand new winery, “History Gallery,” and the beautiful grounds—especially recognizable for the estate’s signature water tower—but also includes a full tasting. Guests can also take advantage of Silver Oak’s sister winery, based in Healdsburg in northern Sonoma County. Twomey makes both Merlot and a Russian River Pinot Noir, and guests can opt to take a tour that concludes in a tasting of reds from both wineries. Or, they can take it a step further, and include food pairings prepared by the winery’s chef, Dominic Orsini. Orsini’s cuisine takes wine country’s sustainable and celebratory philosophy to a new level—he plants pesto ingredients as vineyard cover crops, uses vine-cuttings to smoke meats, and much more. Finally, for true Cabernet lovers, there is a vertical Cabernet tasting available, though like the other experiences, groups larger than seven should call ahead to arrange accommodations.
B Cellars
703 Oakville Cross Rd
Oakville, CA 94562
(707) 709-8787
Few wineries begin with the kind of intention and drive behind B Cellars! Casual conversation at a barbeque in 2002 led to the start of this venture. Its founders, an owner of a luxury leather goods and luggage chain and a senior executive at the Four Seasons, were both looking for a career change. They quickly agreed to build a winery with two principles in mind. First, to use a “multi-vineyard strategy” to craft the finest blends possible with every vintage. And second, to use complementary varietals. They completed their team by recruiting lauded winemaker Kirk Venge, whose own family includes Kirk’s father, internationally famous winemaker Nils Venge. With famous vineyards from both Napa and Sonoma county supplying their world-class fruit, B Cellars has created an enviable roster of bottlings with options sure to please any palate in your Napa Valley group wine tour.
B Cellars offers a single tasting experience to guests, carefully curated to showcase the wine in a gorgeous setting. First, hosts greet guests in the “Hospitality House” where they begin their tasting with a wine selection and food pairing. Then, the tour winds its way through the culinary gardens, the winemaking facilities, and the wine caves, where guests consume a barrel sample. Finally, the group returns to the gracious setting at the Hospitality House, where they enjoy a seated tasting, every wine paired to a custom dish prepared by the winery’s chef! The “Oakville Trek” is unforgettable, and can accommodate Napa Valley group wine tours both large and small. For parties of five or more, arrangements must be made ahead of time. Whether your group wine tour includes two or ten, a trip to B Cellars will be one to remember!

Domaine Carneros
1240 Duhig Rd
Napa, CA 94559
(800) 716-BRUT
Napa Valley is known for more than big reds. We would be remiss not to include a favorite that makes sparkling wines as well as Cabernets and Merlots. Domaine Carneros is a favorite with our Napa Valley group wine tours. Between the variety of wines and the luxurious ambiance of the Château terrace, it’s a definite crowd pleaser. The Carneros region is famous for its Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. Both grapes make an excellent base for sparkling wine. You may have heard of the Taittinger label in Champagne, and Domaine Carneros is Claude Taittinger’s American counterpart. The winery applies the classic méthode traditionnelle to California fruit. It creates a distinct and unforgettable wine. Although the estate is modeled after classic French architecture, it is also a green certified winery. The winery uses sustainable, fish-friendly vineyard practices and solar panels.

Your Napa Valley group wine tour can taste Domaine Carneros wines on the terrace or inside the Château. You’ll have a tough choice between ascending the marble and grand staircase inside or the gardens and views outside. The Daily Tasting menu offers customizable flights as well as snacks and food pairings. Sip on wines available by the glass to complete the experience. Guests can choose from a number of elevated tastings, like the Connoisseur’s Tasting. Domaine Carneros designed the tasting for groups with a dedicated wine educator who pours a customizable flight with cheese pairings. If your Napa Valley group wine tour prefers something a little more unusual—but ultra-luxurious!—try the Ultimate Chips & Dip, which includes premium sparkling wines paired with caviar, crème fraiche, and you guessed it—potato chips!
