Few Napa Valley wineries can rival the rich and storied history of Freemark Abbey. It all began in 1886, when Josephine Tychson established the original winery along Route 29 in St. Helena where Freemark Abbey still stands. She kicked off a history of innovation, becoming one of the first woman winegrowers on record. The current name of the winery was created in 1939, when the three owners – Charles Freeman, Markquand Foster and Abbey Ahern – combined their names to form the moniker “Freemark Abbey.” Their stone winery, hand-built in 1899, is a testament to their long presence in Napa. Freemark Abbey Winery is located between St. Helena and Calistoga across from the Culinary Institute of America. Today, Freemark Abbey produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Riesling, as well as very limited production wines, such as Viognier, Petite Sirah, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Franc.

Get a taste before CabFest Napa Valley, with Freemark Abbey’s Cabernet Comparative wine tasting. This in-depth 60 min wine tasting walks you through their current release Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon releases from the historic Bosche and Sycamore Vineyards on the Rutherford Bench. Designed for wine aficionados of all levels, this tasting is a must do for fans of Cabernet Sauvignon.
