Best Spots to Visit in Calistoga
If you are looking to explore wine country at its finest, we think some of the best spots to visit in Napa Valley are in Calistoga. There is so much to see and even more to do, so it really is the perfect wine destination. To help you decide what to do, here’s a list of places to go that are definite musts when in Calistoga.
When in wine country, you obviously need to sample some wine! Some of the top-rated wineries in Calistoga include the Spire Estate Collection, Castello di Amorosa, Schramsberg Vineyards, and Sterling Vineyards. While they all have excellent tasting tours, each winery has unique qualities that make them standout locations. For example, you are welcome to explore the beautiful castle and grounds of Castello di Amorosa or relax and take in the sights of the valley in a gondola ride at Sterling Vineyards.
Weekly Farmers Market
If you are truly looking to get a taste of Calistoga, try attending the weekly Calistoga Farmers Market. The market is open every Saturday from 8:30 to noon and is now year-round. Whether you are looking for a scrumptious breakfast or want some packaged gourmet foods to take home, you’ll find it there. There’s the usual locally grown produce, baked goods, fresh flowers, and crafts and gifts as well.
Solbar truly has the cuisine for the foodies at heart. Its light and healthy dishes are made with local ingredients that are fresh and full of flavor. Whether you want breakfast, lunch, or dinner, we promise their menu offerings will make your mouth water! We suggest trying their delightful Spring Vegetable Chopped Salad or the unique Caramelized Red Endive with Fried Chickpeas—which is truly one of a kind!
Spa Solage is all about health and wellness, and they offer a variety of therapies that can’t be beat. We love the “Sore No More Massage,” which definitely lives up to its name, and we adore the Mudslide, which leaves you feeling totally relaxed and refreshed. While at the spa, make sure to stop in at Spatique. This little shop carries some pretty incredible wellness products and also features a small clothing section.
Oat Hill Mine Trail
Enjoy some hiking or mountain biking on the Oat Hill Mine Trail. It is an 8-mile trail full of some of the most beautiful views of Napa Valley. While the terrain is fairly easy to manage, there are a few rough sections, so be sure to wear proper footwear and take any appropriate gear.
Summer Concert Series
Calistoga Concerts in the Park are every Thursday evening from 6:30–8:30 pm during the summer months and always provide some great entertainment. While entrance is free, they do offer local wines for purchase and feature a different local winery every week. Just grab a blanket or some chairs and enjoy your evening outdoors!
Shopping the many Calistoga boutiques is a must, especially if you are searching for the perfect souvenir. One of our favorite shops is the Blackbird—it is full of unique souvenirs and gifts for people of every age.
Calistoga Balloon Rides
Hot air balloon rides are peaceful and exciting all at once, and give you the perfect view of Napa Valley. We promise that sailing above the vineyards is something you won’t soon forget!
Whether you’re a Napa Valley local, or planning a visit to California Wine Country, you won’t be disappointed with these amazing Calistoga activities!
