Dean’s “affair” with wine began in the early ‘90s when he had the good fortune to be given an insider’s tour of wine country by a respected consultant. After completing a 24-year “tour of duty” with the S.F. Sheriff’s Department, he had time to develop this passion and became a volunteer and eventual director of one of Sonoma’s premier annual harvest festivals, Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival.
This exposure to local vintners and wineries was instrumental when he decided to share this passion with others and become a concierge at The Lodge at Sonoma (Marriott). Dean later brought his skills and experience to The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, where he worked closely with Beau Wine Tours to plan exceptional wine tour experiences in Sonoma Valley for the resort’s guests.
To further his education and experience in both Napa Valley and Sonoma, Dean became a chauffeur tour guide at Beau Wine Tours. As a tour guide and regional ambassador to hundreds of guests, he spent four years developing relationships with the finest boutique wineries and smaller producers of very hard-to-find wines. Promoted in early 2013 to Chief Concierge, Dean now puts his knowledge to its best use by creating unique wine county tour itineraries for Beau Wine Tours’ respected and discerning clients.
